The Complusive Dreamers

“It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life worth living’…. this line from ‘The Alchemist’ stuck since I read it for the 1st time, and it still makes the hair on my neck rise every time I read it…I confess, I am a dreamer by nature….the compulsive kind.  So all the crazy folks out there marching head-on towards their goals, having no prospect of failure in spite of the critics, and believing that they can beat the odds, come what may, are my heroes!  The kind you see dwelling in their own sweet world, cut off from the sanity and monotony of the usual way of things … They’re not afraid to sing a song stuck in their head out loud, they make decisions instinctively and they’re the ones who usually make you go,… “what the hell is on your mind?!’… Well, you get the picture.
And the place where they’re stuck, dreaming of how to change the world, this maverick attitude, more often than not, hurts more…but then again, as Steve Jobs rightly said ‘Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do’…
Truth is, there is a compulsive dreamer in all of us. Deep down within, there is a side of us which wants to break free from all the shackles holding back a beautiful mind from nurturing, wants to explore and grow and beat the ordinary conventional  way of things and soar, uncaring, like a breeze. We all have that secret desire, the thought of which gives you butterflies in the stomach and makes you fell all warm and fizzy, that you would go to any lengths to fulfill if not for the unwritten rules of society we’re expected to accept and follow… That exactly is the kind of stuff that matters!
Now obviously, most of you might say that is not how it works In the real world!… You ought to think of the future and your responsibilities and that taking these intuitive decisions is nothing more than a gamble. But that’s what’s saddening…so many of us shut the doors to our inner talent and accept the stereotypical ideas of ’the way of life’. And though many of the people I know would be nothing short of extraordinary in the field they take up, coz they are capable of achieving whatever they set their mind to, what disheartens me is that years from now, you might have achieved all that they ever expected from you but I might no longer see the spark in your eyes that caught my attention for the first time, the effervescence attitude, the way you instantly gave me the hope that every mind was meant for great things and trust me, when you do not encourage such a mind to expand their horizon and push the limit and flourish, you are depriving the world of a wonderful gift.
So at the end of it, I just want to ask all the awesome people out there to follow your heart and have immense faith in your capabilities coz “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”…. And coz taking a few risks to follow your dreams is a gamble worth making if you believe you can do what you set your mind to and there will be wins and losses but what you can’t afford losing is your sense of wonder and the passion in your heart and the twinkle in your eyes… everything else, you can get back over time.
So what would you do…who would you be if there was a limitless horizon…if there were no bounds and confines?…. Cause there really aren’t any…:-)
